If you're at the back of the pack, you can easily catch up with first place by scoring a takedown and boosting past other racers. When you takedown other racers, your boost meter will increase in length and be completely filled, giving you a super long-lasting boost. Easily the best method of earning boost is to score takedowns on your opponents. If you want to keep up with the pack you'll have to engage them head-on in vehicular combat-if you try to stick to your own side of the road, you'll end up smoked. You'll earn boost for slamming into opponents from the side, shunting them from behind, and stuffing them as they try to overtake you. Though the above methods are great for augmenting your boost when you're alone on the track, the real rewards are won when you get aggressive with other racers. If you do it right, you'll be awarded a "near miss" and you'll get a bit more boost added to your meter. As you pass by the non-racer traffic, get as close to vehicles as you can without touching them. You can further build your boost meter by risking near misses with non-racer traffic. Combine a drift with driving on the wrong side of the road to build up even more boost. The longer your drift, the more boost you earn. Drifting can be the best method of building speed when there are no opponents racing nearby, especially during time-trial races. If you're playing catch-up and are low on boost, risk driving in the wrong traffic lanes to catch up more quickly. To make the deal even sweeter, there doesn't actually have to be any traffic in the "oncoming traffic" lane for it to count-as long as you're keeping within the bounds of the left lanes (lanes dedicated to traffic going the opposite direction) you'll continue to build small bits of boost. You'll gain bits of boost for every second you spend driving into oncoming traffic. ![]() ![]() If you play your cards right, you'll be able to make your way around the track with a constant speed boost. There are a few select ways you can build your boost-learn them well to execute them at will.
